I'll be there for you

I recently have become a big time blog stalker.  People put the cutest stuff up online! I have been following" how-to" videos closely and they have made me feel quite crafty, something my husband lovingly allows me to do, but does not really like. Now I really want a house that I can decorate. David lets me decorate however I want (thought I'm not sure he loves that either) but its so hard to do in a little apartment. Occasionally he will throw a curve ball in my style and tell me he NEEDS to hang up things like jerseys signed by basketball players and large awards with half nude mermaids signed by fake god's of the sea signifying he endured a round of ridiculous torture in the middle of the ocean. What am I supposed to do with that!? We need a home...with a man cave...that he can decorate however he pleases, but right now my tiny apartment does not have much wall space. But, because I love him (and think he is just so darn cute) I will surely oblige, even if I do feel a bit like Monica when Chandler walked in with the white dog statue. If I were you, I would definitely find out early on which odd decorative items he has that he cannot let go of, and figure out how you will incorporate that into your decor...or accidentally break while watering the plants. "I don't know what happened, I was just watering my plants and I broke your leg"

And then be sure you used up all the glue on purpose.

Love is sweet

As wives we are constantly trying to make sure our husbands are taken care of. Just this morning I got up at 5 to pack David a lunch before he left for work as he was not going to be given a lunch break today to retrieve something else. When hes sick I recommend doctors appointments. When he is sore or tired from work I make sure he gets to bed earlier. And trust me, if you are not yet married you will do this too. I always try to make delicious balanced meals for dinner (not just for him but for me too). Figure out a few of the things that your future husband really really loves and really really hates and attempt to avoid the hated things and incorporate the loves every chance you get. He will adore you for it. We always have a few staples in our fridge or cupboards and one of them is cereal (like pretty much every other American home). I choose the healthy options like special K because I need to watch my girlish figure, and I want to feel good about my breakfast, but since my husband is so skinny and really only eats cereal on weekends I let him pick whatever he wants. His favorite is Count Chocula, but we cant find that everywhere so he settles for Cocoa Puffs or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Normally I eat my special K or I have a yogurt or something screaming healthy, but I admit, there are days when I wake up feeling a little more naughty and head straight for the Cocoa Puffs. Oh chocolate heaven. Good thing I have him around to stock up the treats or my life would be bitterly un-sweet. Especially since when I mention to him I would like a chocolate treat he just smiles and winks at me. ohh husband! Thank you for making my life so sweet.

date night!

My husband and I don't really go OUT on dates all that often. This is mostly due to the fact that we live alone and pretty much have date night every night. And also he just got home from a 7 month deployment and we both love having him at home so we are quite content staying in. But earlier today my husband sent me an email telling me he was taking me out for a date tonight and would give me details as the day progressed. He originally was supposed to go play basketball after work today with a friend, but decided that he would take me out instead. I have been kinda stuck at home lately and this nice gesture literally made my day. It feels great knowing I am important to him. So this leads into the question of the day... Make sure to ask the man you are marrying if he will continue to date you after the wedding. Even though we do not yet have children to escape, and have lots of alone time every night, it is super important that the courting continue after the vows have been said. In fact though it is not explicitly stated, I strongly believe that continued dating is a huge part of eternal relationships and part of our Heavenly Father's plan to ensure we not only have joy now, but forever. Gotta go get ready for my date! :)

I'm sorry

Ok Forgive me, I skipped a day. Yesterday was long and stressful. Ask my husband, I kept him up super late whining about a variety of things which he was not entirely thrilled about. And while we are on the subject of forgiveness, before you get married make sure you are a person that can do that a lot...both ask for and accept it. Its almost a daily occurrence in married life. Its hard but its worth it. Every day is worth it. And every day with every I'm sorry the love grows stronger and deeper, and now there are days that I wake up next to my peacefully sleepy spouse and think I must be the luckiest person ever to be able to love someone so much it hurts and to feel the same love in return.

Got Milk?

In sticking with the food theme I thought I would offer this small pieces of advice today. Ask your boyfriend/fiance/first date or whoever what kind of milk they drink. And once you know this piece of information, and it happens to be different than yours, start working immediately to change that. I cannot tell you how annoying it is to have to buy two kinds of milk at all times because your husband drinks whole milk like a toddler, and you refuse to get your full fat content for the day out of a single beverage. Discuss it, bake cookies and slyly serve him your favorite kind of milk every chance you get.  I am happy to say that finally, after almost 2 years of marriage, we have agreed on 2 percent even though I am truly a 1 percent fan and he is truly a whole milk fan. Now he is just waiting til we really do have toddlers so he can steal their milk.

suspicious...very suspicious

Recently...as in yesterday...I was talking to a coworker (aka shipmate) of my husbands who expressed his desire to learn how to cook in order to impress his new (very new) girlfriend. He wanted me to share some of my culinary wisdom with him, as he wishes to keep this girl around for quite some time. So this leads me to the question of the day that all of you should ask before getting married. It is not "Can you cook?" or even "Do you like to cook?" but rather "Once we get married will you still love to cook as much as you claim to now?" True story: David cooked a variety of delicious things before we got married. It was amazing and really fantastic and I was quite impressed. Now, I love cooking so i have no problem doing it, but one night after we had been married for a couple months I was feeling particularly tired so i asked him if he might like to make dinner for the both of us. To this he replied that he could not cook dinner that evening because he did not know how to cook. Really? Because I am entirely positive that before we got married he could cook just fine. Alas, he can no longer do it. How could this happen? Quite suspicious if you ask me. So fair warning you single ladies, men who get married apparently lose brain cells. But there is hope, if your man is like mine, you  may be able to coax him into making a box of Hamburger Helper on very special occasions.

oh no, I shoulda asked

Today i was sitting around as usual, (after the cleaning and laundry had both been done) and I decided my blog is truly boring. I don't even want to read it, and its about my life! Inspired by a comment I left on her blog, a friend (shout out to T in Idaho) suggested I start writing down all the questions I should have asked before I got married. Such as, "Is keeping the lid on the toothpaste important to you?" and while we are on the subject of toothpaste, "Crest or Colgate?" So until I find a job, (which could take awhile since this is America and I don't speak Spanish...yeah I know, makes no sense to me either) I am committed to making my blog a lot more entertaining. Daily. So read, enjoy, and leave comments. I don't I have very many single people reading my blog, so put the word out. I will be including questions that should have been asked before I got married with each blog post. And if you are one of my married readers, enjoy laughing at the things I know you wish you would have asked too. Happy Friday everyone!
