"That Mom"

Last night I realized I am "that mom". You know the one who seemingly has no life beyond baby because all statuses are baby related and all pictures posted are of the kid. Some day I might find something else to write about, but right now I can't think of anything. This tiny human has become my life.

On Sunday our new home teachers came over. They shared a message about gratitude and then everyone took turns saying what they are thankful for. I never got a turn though because Jax woke up from his nap and started crying. I would have said I am thankful for him though, and for everything he means to me. Because after months and months of painful tests and fertility treatments, being told we would never be able to have children without medical help, finally getting pregnant with D3 and then holding that precious child whose eyes I would never see and whose cry I would never hear-after all of that there was Jax. I think Heavenly Father knew I wouldn't go through the fertility treatments again. They are hard. And very trying on the mind and body. So He surprised me with Jax. And he is an amazing little blessing. Sometimes I look at him and still almost 3 months later can't believe he is really here.

Right now I am running on very little sleep. Jax stayed up very late screaming with a tummy ache. And the night before he woke up every hour. He was sore from his shots and had a fever. It hurts me to see him so uncomfortable. But I am so thankful for every cry because I know what a sweet sound that truly is. So thankful for every moment I get to hold him and see him watch me with his big brown eyes. So thankful that he made it here safe.

So for now I am happy to be "that mom". It is the best job ever.

2 Months Old

The day before we went on vacation little man reached 2 months! Sometimes it seems like time is flying by, and sometimes it seems like its been forever because he just fits so perfectly into our home we don't even remember life before him.

He was having a very rough day that day. I told him it is not actually his birthday so he may not cry if he wants to, but he did anyway. Pretty much all day long. I finally calmed him down and even got him to smile, but once he saw the camera, the smile went away. I was a little mad I couldn't get a single picture of him smiling. But Jax has his own ideas about how things should go apparently.

These ones are perfect to show his attitude all day long.

He is a lot more fun now that he makes little sounds and smiles. He also can sit and hang out on our laps without screaming. He had about 2 weeks where all he would is cry constantly. We are so glad he grew out of that and now for the most part just cries when there is something wrong. We are seeing more and more of his personality shine through. We love this little boy and are so happy he was sent to us.

These next pictures are from a few days before the 2 month birthday. He was having one of his fussy days and for some reason this was the only thing that would calm him down. It was so funny! Don't worry, dad is sitting right next to him.

We had his two month checkup today. He weighed about 11 1/2 pounds and was 23 inches tall. Both in the 20th percentile. It seems like he is getting so big to me, but he really is just a tiny dude. The worst part was the shots. He was laying on the table smiling at the doctor, babbling and kicking his legs and then he got stuck with the needle and cried the loudest I have ever heard him cry. It broke my heart and made me cry. Since then we have been snuggling non stop. I can't get anything done, but I love it when he needs his momma and wants to cuddle all day long. I love you so much little man.

California Vacation

We took our first family vacation to California.  I was so nervous about the plane, but Jax actually slept pretty much the entire time. He was so good we decided that we need to get a plane to fly him around in every night to put him to sleep. In fact the entire trip made him so worn out he slept for 6 hours straight for the first time ever! It was AMAZING! But he has since gone right back to waking up every 2-3 hours.

First Plane Ride:

First Swim: It was super hot the entire week. Perfect for a first swim though. Jax really loved the water, he did not like the sun though. After grandma brought out the umbrella and shaded the area we were in though, he enjoyed it a lot. I kind of figured he would like it though because he loves baths. He recently learned how to kick his legs and splash. It might be the cutest thing ever.

His usual mad face. Signature look.

First temple trip: We got to go back to the newport beach temple where we were sealed. It was a really nice day doing baptisms with my siblings. My mom (Grandma) stayed outside with Jax. She got a lot of compliments on his cuteness. :)  We are so happy that because of temples we have a forever family. We cannot wait until we all get to be together: Mom, Dad, D3 and Jax.

First Sprinkles Ice Cream:  This was a first for David and me! It was so yummy! Good thing we don't live closer to it, because it is expensive but oh so delicious.

First time rocking the Auntie T-shirt: I tried to get the other aunts in on this but Kiera is the only one that jumped at the chance. Aren't they so cute? Too bad the first photo is Jax about to spit up, and in all the next ones he is covered in it. Can't wait for him to grow out of that too. He spits up a lot. All the time. So gross.

Last time visiting Corona:  All in all the vacation was great. I was really sad to leave, especially since my parents are moving from Corona to Huntington Beach. The place I grew up; my home. It is weird having no emotional attachment to anywhere now. Of course I consider home to be where David and Jax are, but it will be weird to not have Corona as home too. It was nice to have one last time there and it was nice for David to get away from work and have time with me. We even got to go out a couple times without Jax. Of course I was a nervous wreck most of the time, but it was good to get a little alone time. I am already looking forward to our next trip!

Jax's Blessing Day

Last week we traveled to California for Jax's baby blessing.  A baby blessing is a really special thing in the Mormon church. It is not a baptism. That happens when children are 8 years old. In a blessing the child is presented to Heavenly Father and given a name (whatever the parents choose) and a blessing for his or her life. Generally this is done by the baby's father, but can be done by any male with the Melchizedek Priesthood. It takes place in a regular church service and lots of friends and family come. Jax was blessed by his daddy, and it melted my heart. Definitely a proud moment for a wife and mother. It was a beautiful blessing that promised him much help and success in his life if he chooses to be faithful. My favorite part was a blessing of courage to always do what is right no matter what and the ability to know what the right thing is. Here are some pictures from the day:

All decked out in his dress whites for the occasion. The blanket was a gift from our friends. It is really special because it is from Bethlehem.

Outside the Church after the Blessing.

We love our little one.

Family photo. Last one in the backyard. I will miss that house.

Cousins with babies. Jax and Cal are a month apart. Can you guess who is older?

It was such a LONG day. Little got a bit cranky by the end.

Heather, my friend of 24 years holding my little man.

Thank goodness for the continuous button on the camera. We were able to capture a couple little smiles.
